Texas Outside Magazine Visits Puresolspa & Salt Cave

Written By Mike Sharp, President, Texas Outside Inc.
During our stay at Tapatio Springs Hill Country Resort, we played 36 holes of golf, hiked some trails up the rolling hills, and rode bikes and after two days of that I was tired and sore and ready for a massage at Puresolspa & Salt Cave, which was across the yard from our room at the Resort.

On our last morning we walked into the boutique-style spa and were warmly greeting by a very friendly staff that seemed genuinely happy to see us. I was quickly ushered into a well appointed men’s room (which has a shower, alkaline lemon water, lockers, and restrooms) and given a nice warm robe and slippers. Within minutes after putting on my comfy robe, I met my masseuse Elan – who shook my hand with a grip that almost hurt. I knew immediately that I was in for a treat!

Seconds later I was flat on my tummy lying on a heated massage table covered with some warm blankets. And then the soothing and relaxing background music kicked in – classical music with pianos, flutes, and stringed instruments plus the sounds of nature with waves and rain. This was going to be an experience that could get addictive! I was about to doze off when Elan stepped in, made sure I was comfortable, and started a heavenly 50 minute head to toe deep tissue massage. After 30 minutes or so, just before I was ask to roll over on my back I got a warm towel on my back and feet. Then two strong hands started massaging my head, shoulders, legs, and feet and using heated lotion!

Wow – I don’t want this to end. And the whole time I was smelling good – the strong menthol smell that opened my sinuses was from Deep Blue by DoTerra and a couple different body lotions and oils and body butter melts that were rubbed all over my body. I made a note to myself to stop on the way out and buy some of these oils and lotions and then hope I could convince my wife to use them on me. As Elan worked the knots and kinks out of my body and followed that with a soothing massage I’m sure I dozed off. I tried hard to stay awake so I would enjoy the experience – I wonder if I snored? All too soon Elan’s hands left my body and she said “feel free to lie here and relax.” I was so relaxed and rejuvenated that when I got off the massage table and tried to stand up, I felt like a puppet whose strings had just been cut – I was ready to crumple into a pile on the floor!

That was fantastic and probably the best massage experience I’ve ever had – I was ready to sign up for another session but we needed to move on to our next adventure.

Mrs. Texas Outside got a HydraFacial Treatment at Puresòlspa and here are her comments: “Wow what an amazing facial experience I had with Paige. I’ve had facials before but as I told Paige I had never had one that involved both heat wraps as well as cold wraps and cold stones. I have to say that the cold treatment was my favorite. It was part of their Signature European Facial which restores the skin to its optimal health. Before the heat and cold treatments Paige did appropriate cleansing and exfoliation and then the relaxing skin care treatments that made my skin feel softer and smoother. My dry skin appreciated all the wonderful moisturizing products used by Puresòlspa.”

The HydraFacial is a new breakthrough in skin resurfacing technology that Puresòlspa also offers. The ability to moisturize the skin separates the HydraFacial from all other skin resurfacing procedures. The HydraFacial treatment removes dead skin, moisturizing serums including Vortex-Fusion of antioxidants, peptides and hyaluronic acid. The treatment is soothing, refreshing, non-irritating and immediately effective. I have no idea what that means but Mrs. Texas Outside loved her treatment!

After I regained some strength, I put the robe back on and was escorted into the Salt Cave and observed the wife in a very relaxed state. The Salt Cave is a cave like structure with 25 tons of pure, salt harvested from a salt mine in Poland, comfortable spa loungers, a perfect 67 degree temperature that optimizes the saturation of salt in the air, stalactites on the ceiling with starry lights, a fountain with the comforting sound of trickling water, and soothing music.

“Relax, enjoy, and take a nap if you like – I’ll be back to get you in 45 minutes.” This time I was pretty sure I dozed off! What a refreshing experience. You literally emerge not only more relaxed and tension-free, but healthier as well.

The history of the Puresòlspa and Salt Cave has its roots in Poland, which is home to the Wieliczka Salt Mine.  Visitors of the mine seek treatment in the mine’s rehabilitation rooms for the treatment of respiratory illnesses, asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, heart and cardio-vascular diseases, stress reduction and more.  The dream of an American-based salt cave was realized with the 2013 opening of Puresòlspa and Salt Cave, whose salt cave was constructed using more than 25 tons of salt harvested from the Wieliczka Salt Mine in Poland.

The climate within the cave is rich in negative ions, minerals and micro-elementary particles like sodium, potassium, calcium, magnesium and many others that are naturally absorbed into the lungs as you breathe in the ion-drenched air, which improves the intake and supply of these important elements which are necessary for good health, performance and overall fitness for all ages. Research has proven the therapeutic values of salt caves and their positive influence in the treatment of such ailments and diseases such as: Respiratory illnesses Insufficient circulation of blood, asthma and bronchial tube inflammation, post heart attack conditions, chronic obstructive bronchitis, illnesses of digestive system, and lots more.

Also unique to Puresòlspa, and in fact the only one in the United States, is the Vichy Shower Bed which is excellent for muscle relaxation and an effortless body shower after a therapeutic massage and various body treatments. Vichy Showers increase your blood circulation, detoxify your body, hydrate your skin, and relax your muscles. Simply speaking, the Vichy consists of high-atomising mist shower that saturates and drenches the body with 29 jets, washing off the residue from body masque and effectively infusing and enhancing the treatment results.

In addition to the Salt Cave experience, Puresòlspa offers a wide variety of different treatments and services including body treatments, like Beer Soak or Champagne Bath, or an Herbal Body Detox Ritual; several different massage treatments ranging from the Foot Ritual to the Deep Tissue Sports Massage; couples treatments; a variety of facial treatments some of which include Microdermabrasion Facial or the HydraFacial; and lots more.

Puresòlspa also offers a wide variety of bath, body, and face lotions and baths plus the revolutionary Polish supplement line for all aspects of health & wellness. I’m currently looking for another excuse to get us back to Puresòlspa &  Salt Cave – can’t wait!
